Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another successful term at Sunshine Beach State High School. There has been great academic success especially with our senior students who are entering their final few important weeks of learning before they sit their external exams. We wish all our seniors the best and we know that they have been very well prepared. Overall, academically, our school is obtaining leading results in all subject areas compared to state and national results. This is testament to the dedication of our staff, the work ethic of our students and the support of their parents.
On top of the important learning in all curriculum areas, our students have also had enormous success on the sporting and performing arts competitions. To name a few, our school was proudly victorious at the recent District Athletics carnival with a number of students progressing to the next level of competition. Our Sunshine Superstarz Dance Team at the State AASCF Cheer and Dance Championship on the Gold Coast came first in every event, highest scoring routine in the competition (lyrical) and overall dance State Grand Champions.
Apprenticeships and Traineeships
In other areas of success, we have been informed that we are now the leading school for assisting students obtain school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. We have exciting plans for 2026 to build on this and create even greater positive pathways for our students.
MLTAQ Speech Competition
On Sunday, 31st August, five students proudly represented Sunshine Beach State High School at the MLTAQ Speech Contest, held at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
This year marks the 10th consecutive year that Sunshine Beach SHS has participated in the competition. Over 400 students competed across the Sunshine Coast region, with 70 students representing the Italian language category.
Our students did an outstanding job, taking home podium places for their respected categories. Congratulations to the following students:

- Helena– 1st place
- Huon – 3rd place
Year 7-9 Open
- Lua (Year 7) – 1st place
- Liam (Year 9) – 2nd place
Year 11 Open
- Erin (Year 11) – 1st place
A big thank you to our dedicated Italian teachers and parents for supporting our students with this program.
House Cup
In our first year, the House Cup has been a great success. As points can be awarded in a wide range of student activities and efforts, it continues to grow. We still have one term to go and currently Mundaka has a slight lead over the other three houses. We look forward to the end of year reveal to announce the victors for the 2025 year.
Using Ai
I would like to consider school a sanctuary for thinking. Our young people’s brains are still developing, and it is important for us to consider the overuse and impacts of relying on Ai. Completing assignments without the assistance of Ai is crucial for students' learning and brain development. When students engage directly with tasks, they activate critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity—skills that are essential for brain development, academic growth and lifelong learning. Struggling through challenges and finding solutions independently helps strengthen neural connections, improving memory and cognitive flexibility. It also builds resilience and confidence in their own abilities. While Ai can be a helpful tool for guidance, relying heavily on it can hinder the development of foundational skills that students need to succeed both in school and beyond.
I ask all parents to encourage their children to complete their school-work independently so to assist their child in reaching their full potential.
Message from Noosa Council and Noosa Police
I have received an important request from Noosa Council and Noosa Police to share the following information with you. In recent years, there has been a dramatic increase in antisocial behaviour from unsupervised young people on Hastings Street and Noosa main beach. Please read the flyer below.
Uniform
As we approach the end of the year, many families may be purchasing new school shoes or uniforms for next year.
Shoes: Plain fully enclosed, predominantly black shoes or boots (approximately ankle height) with flat soles. High top Doc Martins are not appropriate. Sport shoes of any colour/type may be worn during HPE and specialised sporting activities only.
Socks: Plain black (must be visible).
I greatly appreciate your support in ensuring your child wears their full school uniform to school.
Uniform Policy
The Parents & Citizens' Association, which represents the parents of the school, determined that Sunshine Beach State High School would be a uniform school. The advantages of wearing a school uniform include developing a sense of belonging to a group, pride in membership of that group, identification of students and equity. As a part of the enrolment process all parents and students have agreed to the wearing of the full school uniform when signing the Sunshine Beach High Enrolment form.
Our uniform shop is currently through The School Locker (TSL) at Maroochydore. To purchase uniforms, you have two options:
